MacroTrack AI vs MyFitnessPal

Updated

If you are looking for a MyFitnessPal alternative, the biggest difference is how you log. Both let you describe a whole meal in a sentence: in MacroTrack AI you type it on iOS, Android, and the web and fix it by replying; in MyFitnessPal Premium you say it with Voice Log in the phone app, then adjust each matched food. Choose MacroTrack AI if you want to log by typing and correcting in conversation. Choose MyFitnessPal if you want a free version to start with, workouts and steps synced from other fitness apps and devices, or Premium features such as barcode scanning. MacroTrack AI is subscription only, with no ads.

Logging one meal in each app

The meal: 150g grilled chicken, a cup of rice, half a cup of black beans, salsa and 30g cheddar.

MacroTrack AI

  1. Type the whole meal as one message.
  2. MacroTrack AI splits it into foods and amounts and shows the calories and macros for each, plus the meal’s totals.
  3. Reply to change anything ("make the rice half a cup"), then tap Save meal.

MyFitnessPal, for each food

  1. On the Today page, tap Log next to the meal, or the + button.
  2. Type the food name or brand into the search field.
  3. Pick a result.
  4. Adjust the serving size, number of servings and meal.
  5. Tap Log (iOS) or the check mark (Android) to save it to your diary.

Their help article describes these steps for one food, and suggests a Saved Meal or Recipe for foods you eat together often, “so you’re not searching for every item each time”. Search works in the free version. With Premium, Voice Log lets you say a whole meal at once on iOS or Android; each food is matched to a database entry for you to adjust before logging. [5][9]

How this comparison was made

MyFitnessPal’s details come from its own website, store listings and help center, checked on the dates below. MacroTrack AI’s come from our FAQ, which explains where our numbers come from: staple foods use values from USDA FoodData Central, and everything else is an AI estimate. Neither column is a claim about accuracy: “the same numbers every time” means the same food and amount always logs the same values, not that the values are exact.
